Rayon House of Fashions cop Mash Constume Band title

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports yesterday released the results of the Mash 2004 Costume Band and Float Parade competition.

The Full Costume Band Category which was divided into large, medium and small sections attracted a total of 18 entries, with Rayon House of Fashions emerging first place winners. Hits and Jams took second place and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport placed third in the large category.

Region 5 (Mahaica/Berbice) and Region 10 (Upper Demerara/Berbice) placed first and second for the regions also in the large category.

In the medium category, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Education placed first, second and third, respectively.

Region three (West Demerara/Essequibo Islands) placed first in the medium, while second place went to Region six (East Berbice/Corentyne).

Small band category saw Guyana Forestry Commission in first place, Don Gomes Optical Service - second and Fire third.

Region winners were Region 1 (Barima Waini) and Region four (Demerara/Mahaica) in first and second.

In the semi band costume competition, there were only three entries- one in each category, with Sling Shot winning for large, Ministry of Finance for medium and Ministry of Local Government for small.

The only regional winner in the semi costume was region seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni) in the small band category, since there were no entries in large and medium categories.

The Ministry of Health, followed by the Ministry of Education and then the Ministry of Home Affairs gained first, second and third respectively in the Individual King Costume competition which received 12 entries.

Regional winners in the King band were Regions 5,3 and 4.

The Queen competition which saw one less entry, saw the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Crops and Livestock taking top honours, with Guyana Forestry Commission and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports second and third.

Regions 3, 10 and 4 were first, second and third place queen winners respectively.

The individual male category received four entries with Hits and Jams first and Don Gomes Optical Services placing second. Male regional winners were regions 3 and 7.

Hits and Jams captured the first place in the female category which had two entries along with region 3.

In the non commercial float category, third place went to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Crops and Livestock, second - Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and first the Ministry of Health. Regional winners were Regions 3 and 7.

In the commercial float category, Rayon House of Fashion placed first, Ansa Mcal second and Carib cash third.

Road March competition song winner was Cyd Hooper 'Linkin up'.
