These two events saw the best level of school participation since the National Finals began on Wednesday. As a result, the final curtains did not come down until around 19:00 hrs (7. p.m.).

In the 5-7 and 8-10 individuals and group categories, Region Ten (Upper Demerara/Berbice) carted away the majority of first prizes.

In the field of physical displays, which were judged in the combination and pyramids categories, agile and energetic bodies were bent and twisted in all directions much to the amusement of the crowd.

In most of the events, Region Ten was clearly the favourite participants as they produced one talented and dazzling performance after another.

The Costume Competition saw the children in splendid colours gyrating to calypsos such as ‘Linking’, ‘Arrowhead’ and ‘Balloon City’ as they proudly depicted Guyana’s heritage, natural resources and national unity.

Today, the children will take to the streets of Georgetown for the Children’s Costume and Float Parade, when the final results for the last competitions will be announced.
