KING'S Jewellery World has had its permit to use the national standards mark renewed for the sixth successive year.

At a simple ceremony held at the company's business premises in Quamina Street Georgetown, Director of the Guyana National Bureau of Standards, Dr. Chatterpaul Ramcharran, handed over the certificate to Mr. Looknauth Persaud, the Proprietor.

The presence of the National Standards Mark on a product signifies the product has complied with the requirements outlined in the relevant national standard and that the product was tested and inspected both at the factory and at sales outlets. With respect to gold jewellery, all manufacturers must comply with the requirements set out in GYS 50-1 Specification for gold articles, marking requirements.

Manufacturers of gold jewellery who wish to join the standards mark scheme are required to comply with the stipulations outlined in GYS 50-2: Specification for gold articles, guidelines for manufacturing and testing.

The Director in his remarks congratulated the company for its achievements over the years and encouraged its management to continue the good work. He also took the opportunity to encourage other manufacturers to join the scheme. In his response, Mr. Persaud pledged to sustain the high standards and quality of the company's products. King's Jewellery World is also an exporter of gold articles.

Consumers are urged to look for the standards mark on gold pieces that they purchase and to buy gold from certified jewelers. Other manufacturers of gold jewellery who are in receipt of the national standards mark are Steve's Jewellery, Topaz Jewellery, Niko's Jewellery, Seeram's Jewellery and DeAbreu's Creations.
