'No accusation about giving info to any Embassy'

General Secretary of the People's Progressive Party (PPP), Donald Ramotar, in a television interview aired last week, had said that no one has accused Khemraj Ramjattan or anyone else of giving information to any foreign embassy.

On the issue of allegations in sections of the media that Ramjattan was accused of criticizing the party to officials of the United State Embassy here, Ramotar said that was not raised in the letter to Ramjattan or at the Central Committee meeting of Saturday (January 31). He said, too, that he has never heard of such allegations until it surfaced in the media.

In a statement yesterday, the PPP General Secretary said that, based on the principle of confidentiality, he chose not get into the details of the meeting during the television interview.

"I don't want to do what Ramjattan did, that is, talk publicly about internal party matters," Mr. Ramotar said.
