LAST Saturday, the Lusignan Golf Club held its Annual General Meeting at the clubhouse. The agenda went smoothly with the Captain's report and the Audited Financial Statement hardly raising anything but the usual questions and responses.

However, when the time came for election of the new office-bearers -- the first time in many years -- past president Mike Brassington was challenged by Hemraj Kissoon.

At the end of the ballot, Kissoon edged out Brassington by one vote. Colin Ming, David Cockroft and Patrick Prashad were elected unchallenged for vice-president, treasurer and club-captain respectively. Committee members are John Tracey, Brian Glasford, Anand Dharry and Melissa Humphrey.

Brassington was gracious in welcoming the new president whom he wished all the best and even prompted that he knew that he would do a fine job in the office.

The new president in his remarks thanked Brassington for all that he has contributed during his extensive service to golf and promised to continue to take the club to great heights. Brassington is to be offered the office of Emeritus President in the not-too-distant future.

Results of the year-long monthly mug competitions were announced by the Captain in his report.

The winner was Patrick Prashad with 91 points, who edged out Colin Ming by one point and the ever-improving Christine Sookram was third with 84 points.
