Three deported to Guyana

Yesterday the Office of the Commissioner, Police Headquarters, Georgetown issued a press release with the names and particulars of the three persons who were deported from the United States of America for various offences.

They are as follows: Zulfakar Alli, 40, of Lot 67 Eccles Old Road, East Bank Demerara, who was deported on 2004/01/12 from the USA for robbery and assault.

Alli departed Guyana legally in January 1987 for the USA.

He was arrested on 97/10/10 and charged with robbery and assault.

He appeared in court and was sentenced to three to six years imprisonment and on completion of four years, he was released into Immigration custody and later deported.

Rhonda Nerissa, 23, of Lot 97 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was on 2004/01/15 deported to Guyana from the USA for possession of narcotics.

Nerissa left Guyana legally on 2002/11/14 for the USA. On arrival a quantity of cocaine was found in her possession.

She was arrested and charged with the offence. She appeared in court and was sentenced to twelve months imprisonment.

After serving her jail term she was handed over to Immigration and deported to Guyana.

Mark Gavaskar Singh, 33, of Lot 102, Number Two Village, East Canje, Berbice, was deported on 2004/01/15 from USA for damage to property, kidnapping and attempted rape.

Singh departed Guyana legally in 1987 for the USA.

In 1996, he was arrested and charged with damage to property. He appeared in court and was placed on five years probation.

In February 1997, he was again arrested and charged with kidnapping and attempt rape.

He again appeared in court and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.

Singh was released in Immigration custody on 99/05/25 and later deported.
