TWO of the three men accused of the Shafeek Bacchus murder made a second Court appearance yesterday and were further remanded to prison.

Ashton King, 48, owner of A&D Funeral Parlour and residing at Lot 104 Pineapple Road, East Ruimveldt and Shawn Hinds, 37, of Lot 14 Eccles New Scheme, East Bank Demerara, will re-appear before Acting Chief Magistrate Juliet Holder-Allen on February 18.

The third accused, Mark Thomas alias ‘Kerzorkee’, manager of Auby’s Wine Bar, at Norton and George Streets, Werk-en-Rust, was still not well enough to attend the hearing.

He is recuperating in Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted after collapsing at Brickdam Police Station on hearing the charge for the capital offence read to him last week, Police Inspector Gordon Peters reported.

Thomas, King and Hinds, also fingered in the swirling controversy surrounding a so-called ‘Death Squad’, are jointly accused of murdering cattle farmer Bacchus, who was shot dead outside his Princes Street, Lodge home, also in Georgetown, in a drive-by shooting last January 5.
