The Georgetown Development Plan is completed and a draft plan has been submitted to Cabinet for consideration and approval.

Minister Shaik Baksh made the disclosure while reporting to the media on achievements of his Ministry for 2003.

He added that Cabinet will be considering this Georgetown Plan during the month of January.

Important components included in the plan that Minister highlighted included the Sea Wall Development Plan; Durban Park Development Plan and the Stabroek Market Development Plan.

He pointed out that they are also looking at the feasibility of a

round-a-bout at the Sheriff Street Junction. Discussions with the Ministry of Public Works on this possibility is ongoing and the discussions are to be held with the Police Traffic Department, he announced.

The services of two town planners will aid them significantly in completion of the plans, he stated.

The Minister also spoke of the completion of a draft plan for Lethem Development and announced that in 2004 his Ministry will work on the Development Plan for Charity and Parika and the town plans for New Amsterdam and Corriverton.
