How will you spend your Old Year's night? Some Guyanese will be at church, some preparing the traditional pot of cook-up rice while others prefer to bring in the New Year on the dance floor.

For those who like to party, the lawns of the Everest Ground will play host to a night of elegance when Hits and Jams Promotions stages its annual Old Year's Night event. Mingles Sound Machine and Fusion's Sound System will kick things off at 8 pm and a fireworks display will follow at midnight.

A free portrait will be taken upon entry into the ground and patrons will be treated to an early breakfast. Noise-makers complete the package that is going for $2,000 per person.

El Sadiek and the Sugar Cake girls will liven up celebrations at the Hotel Tower's Spectrum Poolside. With a price tag of $15,000 per person the evening promises a delightful dinner, a champagne toast at midnight, party hats and noisemakers.

Le Meridien Pegasus is set to host two separate galas, each with a distinctive appeal to those looking for a party with a difference. Patrons can jump into 2004 at Le Poolside from 9 pm with the Sheriff Deputies. Barbecue dinner and dessert are inclusive with a price tag of $6,000 per person plus 10% Government Tax. Couples willing to part with the equivalent of US$100 are invited to take a walk down 42nd Street at Le Meridien Pegasus's Annual Ball at the Savannah Suite. The event, dubbed 'A Night on Broadway', promises patrons a razzle dazzle evening that includes a buffet dinner and drinks of choice. A door prize of two tickets to New York compliments of North American Airlines is to be won.

Nature lovers can answer the call of the wild come New Year's Eve at the Shanklands Resort. The Shanklands package, which has a starting price of $9,000 per person, offers accommodation, round trip boat transportation, limited local bar, cocktail and buffet dinner. Patrons will also be treated to late breakfast and lunch on New Year's Day.

Members of the Guyana Police Force (GPF), having served and protected all year round, are hoping that Guya-nese will party into 2004 with them tomorrow night at the annual New Year's Eve Ball. The action gets underway at 10 pm at the Police Officers' Mess, Eve Leary, and runs until daybreak. Patrons willing to part with $6,000 can party to the sounds of the Mischievous Guys, the Tonada Police String band and the GPF Steel Orchestra until breakfast is served on New Year's morn.

Revellers can dance through the night at Thirst Park for only $500. Banks DIH and promoter, DJ Stress in association with Gizmos and Gadgets and Sprint 165 will hold their first-ever Old Year's Night event dubbed the "cheapest and sweetest" party in town.

The Smirnoff Ice promotion kicks off at 8 pm with Sonicboom Sound System entertaining patrons until dawn. Patrons will receive numerous Smirnoff Ice prizes.
