Police are now trying to substantiate the claims by the Muneshwers security guard who said he was kidnapped on the morning of the fire that gutted the Water St complex.
The owners have described the guard's report as a fabrication.
There has been some conjecture in the public about the connection between Friday's fire and the reported abduction of the guard, which reportedly occurred hours earlier.
Yesterday, Police spokesman David Ramnarine said the police are aware of the report and are investigating its validity in the light of the contradicting claims. He said employees will be interviewed to verify what happened after the report was disputed.
