Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Robert Corbin has formally nominated Professor Harold Lutchman to serve as the replacement for British human rights activist Maggie Beirne who recently resigned as a Commissioner on the Disciplined Forces Commission (DFC).

The PNCR Leader in a written notification of this nomination to President Bharrat Jagdeo, copied to the Speaker of the National Assembly, yesterday stated that the replacement should take immediate effect.

Dr Lutchman, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Guyana, is one of two Guyanese jurists appointed to serve on bodies related to the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).
