Just a few of the children who took part in 'Young Talents Tell Their Christmas Tale' held at the Cara Inn on Sunday night.

Anyone who might have doubts about the talent and commitment of young children would be heartened by the performances at the Young Talents tell their Christmas Tale Show held at the Cara Inn on Sunday night

Among a mix of ballet and musical pieces, there were several standouts including piano recitals by Candace Barnes, who turned in an immaculate rendition of "O Tannenbaum", Kazia Watson playing "Fur Elize", Jared Odle tackling the tricky "Moonlight Sonata", and Francis Lai tinkling the "Theme from Love Story". The Thomson bothers, Joel and Justin, also performed a piano duet.

Vocal pieces that shone were "O Holy Night" by Lianne Williams and a cheeky duet "Looking On" by Mortimer Stewart and Nicholas Lord, one of whom could not help giggling halfway through! Ruth Osman on flute and vocal delivered a charming "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".

Group performances included the sweet-sounding Marigold Junior Choir, the accomplished West Ruim-veldt Boys Choir (with a strict choirmaster) and the Parkside Steel Combo.

The finale was the Christmas Story told in dance by the students of the Ballet School who age from 6 and up. Full of exuberance and excitement and in wonderfully designed costumes, the children's enthusiasm was infectious. They were choreographed for this and several other charming performances by teacher Georgia Harry-Jiminez. The show was a joint production of the Ballet School and the Guyana Music Teachers Association.
