As police continue to probe Monday night's murder of a minibus driver the PPP/C's Member of Parliament for Region 4, Neil Kumar is calling on Buxton residents to form policing groups and fight criminal activities linked to their village.

Kumar's remarks came following a visit, along with Region 4 Regional Councillor Kweku McDonald, to the home of the slain Francis Parmanand Singh.

The PPP/C MP expressed concern over the recent crimes in Buxton and said the older persons in the village "should take a stand and not allow the youths to go rampant."

Kumar called on "Buxtonians to take up a more responsible role in the area and condemn these activities, which are causing problems for the entire village."

Singh, called `Shine Money', 45, of 68 Second Street, Foulis, ECD died immediately after being shot in the head when gunmen pretending to be passengers stopped his Route 44 minibus.

Kumar issued a call to people in Buxton and other communities to come together and form policing groups to fight criminal activities and not allow people trying to live honestly to be killed.

Meanwhile, the police have questioned a number of persons in relation to Singh's death although no arrests have been made.

A police source told this newspaper that although no searches had been carried out investigations were proceeding in the normal way.

Singh is the latest casualty of a re-emerging shooting spree which has thus far accounted for 11 persons in the last two weeks.
