Maintenance contracts approved for East Bank road

Cabinet Secretary, Dr Roger Luncheon yesterday announced that contracts for the routine maintenance of the pavement and shoulders of the East Bank Public Road have been given the 'no objection' from Cabinet.

He spoke during his weekly post-Cabinet press briefing held at the Office of the President.

At a cost of $51.7M, maintenance work is to be done from the Demerara Harbour Bridge in Peter's Hall to Relief.

A further contract for similar works from Relief to the Timehri International Airport is valued at $42.7M.

The stretch from the Harbour Bridge to Relief is also to have maintenance work done on verges and ditches to the tune of $21.7M. Similarly, verges and ditches along the East Bank road from Relief to Timehri are to be maintained at a cost of $19.3M. The works along the East Bank of Demerara are being executed under the Ministry of Works.

Contracts for the supply of water meters and connection material also received a 'no objection' from the Cabinet. These contracts come under the Ministry of Housing and Water.
