Ancient Dancer wins big race on first day

ANCIENT Dancer galloped her way to victory in the C and Lower feature race in first day action of the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club’s Christmas horse race meet at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne on Boxing Day.

The horse raced to victory over six furlongs to take the $100 000 first prize and the DDL Eldorado trophy, while River Storm was second and First Lady third.

The first feature race of the day for horses classified G and Lower was taken by Rejoice, with De General placing second and Star Attraction third. Rejoice picked up the prize of $70 000 and the Navendra (Narine) Ganesh Memorial trophy.

The third feature of the day for F and Lower for the Jagdat Trophy was won by Cash Run, followed by World in Sixty and Felena.

Cash Run collected the $90 000 top purse.

Roy Madrid won the I and Lower race over six furlongs for $60 000, while My Arrival came in second and Prince of Peace third. The race was sponsored by P and P Insurance Brokers and Consultants.

De General returned to the turf to take the L and Lower race for the Mahase Ramphal Memorial Trophy ahead of Brown Boy and Hustling Time, while Felena notched up victory in the H and Lower event over five furlongs for a prize of $65 000. McGuyver finished second and River Storm third.

The final race of the day classified J and Lower was won by Satranie with Bound to Dance second, Showtime third and Stop the Hate fourth.

The first prize was $50 000.

According to the president of the club, Justice Cecil Kennard, the weather condition is excellent for today’s second day event at the same venue.

Galloping starts at 13:30 hrs with another seven races carded for the day.
