STAR striker Gregory Richardson and 15 other fellow Olympians are among 26 players called for another set of trials for the senior National football team.

The Guyana Football Federation released the names yesterday, stating that the list was made following trials earlier this month.

Players named are: goalkeepers Fidel Smith, Andrew Durant and Marlon Hendricks; full-backs Travis Waterton, Orville Bobb, Walter Moore, Leslie Holligan and Elroy Parks; central defenders Orlando Jilgeous, Sherwin Cadogan, Daxton Parks, Kelvin McKenzie and Clevaughn Slowe; mid-fielders Dirk Archer, Shawn Beveney, Jonathan Peters, Jerome Richardson, Carl Cole, Shawn Bishop, Emerick Williams and Travis Grant; strikers Gregory Richardson, Devon Millington, Nigel Codrington, Delon Glen and Eron Hayde.

The Under-23 players are: Smith, Durant, Waterton, Moore, McKenzie, Archer, Beveney, Peters, Jerome Richardson, Williams, Grant, Gregory Richardson and Millington.

Players called are required to return for “further” selection trials, lasting for one week from Thursday, January 15 next.

The GFF is also inviting overseas-based players desirous of making the national team to attend the trials.

“Other players will be identified during the Kashif & Shanghai and other tournaments and they will also be invited to attend the trials,” the GFF stated.

An initial list of 26 players will be named on January 24 and during the “training and development” session that follows, unsuitable players will be released and new players added to the squad from time to time.

All players selected for training must be in possession of valid passports.

Guyana’s first international engagement is in the World Cup qualifiers, coming up against Grenada in a home-and-away tie, the first leg fixed for February 18 in Grenada. The return leg is scheduled for March 31 here, with the winner of the tie, next meeting the USA.
