WORLD Boxing Council (WBC) cruiserweight champion, Guyanese Wayne `Big Truck’ Braithwaite destroyed Panamanian Luis Pineda, dropping him for the count with a right uppercut to the head at 1:27 of round one, to successfully defend his title at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City last night.

At the sound of the bell in the Don King Promotions title fight, Pineda came out aggressive, pinning Braithwaite to the ropes and unleashed a flurry of punches. Braithwaite retaliated with an overhand right, followed by a left hook and then finished the fight with a right uppercut.

The Panamanian tried getting up but could not make it. It was Braithwaite’s second title defence and his camp was in joyous mood last evening after his crushing victory.

The day before the fight, Maurice `Bizzy’ Boyce, one of Braithwaite’s two trainers -- the other is Colin Morgan -- had predicted that his fighter will knockout Pineda in last night’s title defence.
