BEAUTIFUL 17-year-old Hema Singh is the new queen of the Essequibo Lions Club annual sari pageant.

A release from the Lions Club said eight beautiful young ladies competed hotly for the Essequibo Lions Club crown at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground last weekend.

Hema was sponsored by Ramoutar's Investment of Spring Gardens, also on the Essequibo Coast.

Ms. Sabreina Mohan, who represented Barakat's Timber, was first runner-up, while Ms. International Tarana Dance Troupe, Bidya Bissoon, was the second runner-up of the sari pageant.

Ms. Parveenie Ramdyal, who was sponsored by Boodhoo's General Store of Cotton Field, won the Best Smile and Congeniality prizes. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
