FOUR clubs, invited to participate in the Christmas Football Festival, did not attend the meeting with Minister of Sport Gail Teixeira, yesterday, and the Kashif & Shanghai (K&S) Organisation announced they would be penalised.

K&S Director Kashif Mohamed disclosed that the teams - Santos, Cougars All Stars, Uitvlugt All Stars and Netrockers - would not be kicked out of the tournament yet, but would be fined.

Mohamed explained that winners of each match stand to win cash and the four defaulting teams would not be able to pocket the prize, and if they did not win, the fine would carry across to the next championship.

Also, the organiser promised that matches would be played on time, a feature they achieved for the past three years after being faulted by the media about the late starts.

The two Barbadian teams, Notre Dame and Deacon Farm, pulled out of the tournament because several of their players were called to the National team and they would be at a disadvantage.

Western Tigers replaced Deacon Farm and would clash with Uitvlugt All Stars in the feature game of double header at Wales Community Centre ground on Sunday, December 21.

Silver Shattas of Linden filled the slot for Notre Dame and they would meet Beacon in the first game of the very double header.

The football extravaganza kicks on Sunday, with a formal opening ceremony complete with a march past of all participating teams and addresses. After that Georgetown and Linden will clash a second time for Western Union lien trophy. Georgetown have already notched their name on the trophy.
