Beautifully illuminated and overlooking Courts Furniture in resplendence - the Courts Christmas Tree.
Hundreds yesterday afternoon gathered outside Courts Furniture Inc. on Main Street for the traditional lighting up of Courts Christmas Trees in the city.

A fantastic event is was, and it turned out to be an evening of hilarious entertainment for the children who attended in great numbers.

The main feature on the programme of activities was the historic turning on of the power switch by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Ms. Gail Teixeira, amidst select singing and dance and other cultural pieces.

And following the lighting up of the trees, adding colour and glitter and a true feeling of Christmas to the environment, Santa Claus made a dramatic appearance.

Perched high on a horse cart, and gyrating to the beat of the music in true Caribbean style, Santa shamelessly did his thing, as his horses galloped into the Avenue. From his decorated cart he threw sweets to the screaming and wildly cheering crowds of children assembled in the avenue.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Courts, Mr. David Burgess also made a monetary presentation to Lifeline Counseling Services, to assist the work of the HIV/AIDS focused organization. And Deputy Mayor of Georgetown, Mr. Robert Williams, congratulating Courts for the gesture, pointed to several other humanitarian services rendered by that firm.
