Government to remain firmly connected to the grass-root level

THE Government will continue to focus on the productive sector and remain firmly connected to the grass-root level, President Bharrat Jagdeo told thousand of Essequibians Friday night at Anna Regina.

In an address to Essequibians before declaring open Essequibo Nite, Exhibition and fair, President Jagdeo said the Government is committed to injecting resources especially in the drainage and irrigation sectors and to pursuing appropriate policies.

According to the President, the social sectors and education will also be given special focus by his Government.

Noting that Essequibo Nite has become a regular feature in Region Two, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries Crops and Livestock, Mr. Satyadeow Sawh, also appealed to all Guyanese to support local products and produce and the made in Guyana, grown in Guyana campaign.

Some of the local manufacturers at the exhibition were Original Juice Centre of Charity, Boodhoo's General Store of Cotton Field, Mainstay Pineapple Processing Factory, Big Bird Fish Complex of Charity, Alliance Against Hunger, Barima Heart of Palm, National Diary Development Project, Pomeroon Women Small Cottage Association, Antique Reproduction Furniture, Guyana Rice Development Board, B.Beharry and Company Limited and several craft and wood manufacturers.

The President, Minister Sawh and Region Two Chairman, Mr. Alli Baksh, toured and inspected each booth.

The President also spoke with manufacturers and farmers, and gave encouragement and advice towards promoting their products/ produce to compete on the international markets.
