THE relatives of abducted taxi driver, Vivekanand Nandalall, have disclosed that the person, who called them last Friday demanding further cash, had the same voice of the first caller.

Nandalall, 20, of Lot 125 A Block 12, Non-Pariel, East Coast Demerara, was kidnapped almost two weeks ago. The family, who had dropped off $1M at an appointed location on Saturday, October 18, became further distraught with fear when the young man was not released as promised. There followed a weeklong “blackout” from the kidnappers. During that time, Nandalall’s parents, who were abroad, returned to the country and made a tearful appeal on television for the return of their son.

The next contact with the alleged kidnappers came on Friday afternoon, when a telephone caller demanded another $1M from the family. A member of the family said he recognised the voice as the original caller. When the relative sought some evidence that the lad was safe and alive, the caller related that Nandalall was still alive and was being locked away in a secure location by his “boss man”.

The caller also reportedly disclosed that the “boss man” has vanished with the $1M ransom, which was dropped off over a week ago.

A “nine-night” service is currently being held for the safe return of Nandalall as relatives strongly believe that he is still alive.

They are appealing for persons with any information of Nandalall’s whereabouts to contact them on telephone number 229-6575.
