Shares of Demerara Tobacco Company (DTC) again dominated trading yesterday with 24,587 shares being traded at a price of $42.00. Total trading for the day amounted $1,289,554.

Only two other companies recorded activity yesterday: Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) and Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI).

DDL traded 1,000 shares at a price of $6.90 for a total consideration of $6,900, while GBTI traded 10,000 shares at $25.00 for an overall value of $250,000.

Shares still on offer for the next trading session are 5,948,000 of Banks DIH Limited with the best price being $6.60; 566,000 shares of DDL with the best price being $7.00, down from $7.20 last week.

The National Bank of Industry and Commerce Limited (NBIC) has 99,000 of its shares remaining at a best offer of $14.00 per share, while 96,000 shares of Citizens Bank are offered at a best price of $13.00. The remaining 11,000 DTC shares have a price of $42.00, and shares of the Guyana Bank of Trade and Industry (GBTI) have a best offer price of $30.00. Property Holdings Inc. have 5,000 shares at a best offer of $6.00 per share.

Bids remaining are 600,000 of the Demerara Bank Limited with a best bid of $1.20; 100,000 of DDL with the best bid being $6.50, 100,000 shares of Citizens Bank with the best bid being $10.50, down from $13.00 last week, 19,000 DTC shares at a best bid of $30.00, 5,000 shares of Sterling Products Limited at a best bid of $12.00, and 1,000 shares of Guyana Stockfeeds Inc. at a best bid of $15.00.

Yesterday’s session marked the eleventh ‘round’ of trading since the stock exchange opened for business on June 30. Trading is done every Monday at 10 am at the offices of the Guyana Association of Securities Companies and Interme-diaries Inc. (GASCI) on the corner of Robb Street and Avenue of the Republic.

As of now, only three stockbrokers are licenced to trade stocks on behalf of others. These are Trust Company Guyana Limited, Beharry Stockbrokers Limited and GNCB Trust Company.
