DNA results identify remains as Khan's

The DNA results have positively confirmed that the skeletal remains discovered in Brazil as those of abducted businessman and former President of Rupununi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Mohamed Khan.

Mohamed Khan, 50,of Savannah Inn, Lethem was kidnapped, robbed and killed while on a business trip to Brazil.

According to Alfred Ramsaran, newly elected President of the RCCI, who told the Guyana Chronicle that the Guyana Consulate in Boa Vista, Roraima, Brazil on Tuesday confirmed that the remains discovered in Vila, Sao Silvestre, Brazil is that of Mohamed Khan.

He said that this was proven by a DNA test that was conducted last month in Boa Vista and was sent to Brazil for testing.

Ramsaran disclosed that the RCCI in conjunction with the Khan's family have arranged the funeral of Mohamed Khan for September 28 at the Rupununi Rodeo Site at 10:00 hours.

The RCCI met and elected Alfred Ramsaran as the new President of the RCCI and Linda Khan, wife of the dead businessman as the Vice-President of the RCCI.

Early last month Linda Khan, her daughter, Natasha Macedo, her husband, John Macedo, her son, Junior visited Brazil and were told in the Boa Vista court that Khan was abducted, robbed and killed but the family had doubts.

Blood samples were taken and sent to the Brazilian capital, Brasilia for analysis.

The remains of Khan, were found in Sao Silvestre, some 80 kilometers from the Boa Vista capital of the state of Roraima.

Khan was abducted on June 22 by a group of Brazilian policemen while he was en route to Boa Vista on business.

His abductors had demanded $5M for his safe return.

Initially reports state that three paid policemen were charged for the abduction of Khan.

The officers were reportedly involved in 25 different offences, including homicide.
