GINA - The many possibilities for technological development available in Guyana were made known to India's renowned Electronic Company by President Bharrat Jagdeo while on a visit to the company yesterday, as part of his State visit to India.

President Jagdeo visit to Bangalore's world-renowned Electronic City, a major world hub of computer software design and manufacturing, included inspection of the Infosys plant and meeting with the company's leaders and engineers. It was while in n discussions with one of the company's co-owner, that he spoke of Guyana's plans for Information Technology, as well as the business possibilities.

The Guyanese Head of State and his delegation's Bangalore-leg of his five-day trip to India, began with a visit to a facility reflective of India's growing technological advancement and military capacity and a tour of the Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL) plant.

President Jagdeo, who also toured an assembly line manufacturing supersonic fighter aircraft, was privy to an aerial demonstration of one of India's latest military-type HAL helicopters.

He climbed into the cockpit of one of the fighter aircrafts and was shown the various features by engineers, and also examined the latest helicopter being used by the Indian Air Force.

The visit by the President and his delegation to the facilities came after Tuesday's tour of the Bannari Amman Sugar factory and co-generation plant at Sathyamnangalam, Tamil Nadu. The companies have expressed an interest in Guyana and follow-up work will be pursued at the Government and private sector levels.

The Head of State and his delegation were expected to wrap up the Bangalore-leg following discussions with officials and inspections of the Indian Institute of Science and the Applied Science and Technology and rural areas.

President Jagdeo's State Visit culminates in Mumbai, Maharastra today.
