Brisk trading on Guyana Stock Exchange

The Guyana Association of Securities Companies and Intermediaries Incorporated (GASCI) yesterday recorded relatively brisk trading with 15 transactions and a total volume of 43, 755 shares valued at $646, 138.

According to the Operations Manager of GASCI, Clarence Perry yesterday was “a good day with a greater frequency of transactions.”

Giving a breakdown of yesterday’s transaction Perry said five companies were involved, among them were Banks DIH, Demerara Tobacco Company (DEMTOCO), Demerara Distilleries Limited (DDL), Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) and the National Bank for Industry and Commerce (NBIC). Their individual trading of shares was 18, 700, 10,000, 9, 600, 3, 500 and 2, 000 respectively.

GASCI which established several weeks ago operates on the principle of a Stock Market but is currently dealing with secondary markets only, Perry told the Chronicle.
