UK Guyanese wins literary award

Charlotte Williams, an author of Guyanese origin, has won this year’s Welsh Book of the Year Award at the Hay Festival 2003 in the United Kingdom.

Williams said the book, Sugar and Slate [ please note: links provided by LOSP web site ], explored the search for identity faced by a woman of mixed race heritage as she travelled with her family between Wales, Africa and Guyana. Williams is the daughter of the late Denis Williams.
