The Australian cricket team is calling for an investigation into the disappearance of thousands of dollars worth of equipment at the Piarco International Airport on Monday.

The team’s manager Steve Bernard, in a television report last night, said equipment and luggage had also gone missing after the second Test match in Trinidad, and in light of the latest disappearance, the incidents should be investigated.

The Australian players were on their way to Grenadaaboard a BWIA flight for theOne-Day games today and Sunday, after last weekend’s matches at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port-of-Spain.

BWIA spokesman Clint Williams said the airline knew about the lost equipment and an investigation is expected to be done.

Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board of Control president Alloy Lequay said the equipment may have been lost after it was checked in.

Lequay said he planned to write Police Commissioner Hilton Guy about the incident. He said 35 pieces were lost.

The equipment lost ranged from cricket bats to sunglasses, Bernard said.
