In the April 6 edition of the Sunday Stabroek, a news item entitled `IMF/World Bank team advocates power-sharing mechanisms' was carried on the IMF report headed Guyana: Experience with macroeconomic stabilization, structural adjustment and poverty reduction.

The news item in part said that the authors suggested that Guyana embrace power-sharing mechanisms to secure a peaceful political environment and to overcome the challenges to high growth rates and poverty reduction.

An IMF official yesterday reiterated that the opinions expressed are those of the authors: Philippe Egoume-Bossogo, Ebrima Faal, Raj Nallari and Ethan Weisman and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the IMF staff, executive directors or the authorities of Guyana.
