Serious training is scheduled to begin for the reigning Miss Guyana/Universe queen, Leanna Damond with the arrival of Professor Annarosa Stalwart who will be working on fine-tuning the queen’s speaking skills.

Public Relations Officer for the Miss Guyana/ Universe, Steve Ninvalle, said that instead of Damond travelling to the USA Stalwart would be coming here.

Also Robert Dover, who trained the girls for the pageant, will be returning to Guyana in mid-April to commence training of the queen.

Ninvalle said that this would ensure that the committee members had a closer look at what was transpiring.

Last year’s queen Mia Rahaman had travelled to the USA shortly after the crowning where she had remained until she travelled to Puerto Rico to take part in the pageant. Franchise holder, Odinga Lumumba, had said that Damond would travel to the US for training.

However, Ninvalle said that Damond, who had never travelled outside of Guyana, would leave for the USA two weeks before her scheduled departure for Panama in mid-May with the pageant set for June 30.

Damond and the other winners at the pageant will receive their prizes at a ceremony at the Cara Inn on Sunday.
