Female golfers throw down gauntlet to male counterparts

Top female golfers Melissa Humphrey and Christine Sookram will throw down the gauntlet to their male counterparts, Patrick Prashad, Colin Ming and company when the Universal Airlines sponsored golf competition gets underway at the Lusignan Golf Course from 12.30pm.

All interested persons must report to the starter at 12.15 p.m.

Competition will be over 18 holes and the scoring will be medal play. There will also be prizes for the longest drive and the closest to the pin on a par three. The course is expected to be in excellent condition and competition should be close.

Meanwhile, at the end of the first quarter of the monthly mug competition, Colin Ming is in the lead with 36 points. He is followed by Christine Sookram with 30 points and Mike Mangal with 29 points.
