The emissaries from President Bharrat Jagdeo and PNCR leader Robert Corbin began meeting yesterday to work out the issues the two would discuss when they meet.

The emissaries are Parliamentary Affairs Minister Reepu Daman Persaud and PNCR parliamentary chief whip and central executive committee member Lance Carberry.

Last week Corbin accepted the President's invitation to meet and restated his party's commitment to the resolution of matters of national interest, which he hoped could be resolved through constructive engagement.

In his letter Corbin also indicated some of the issues he would like to discuss with the President. The issues are the deteriorating situation in the bauxite communities, especially in Linden, which if not immediately addressed, could lead to a national disaster; the national security situation; the unresolved issues which led to the parliamentary impasse; the implementation of decisions of the Jagdeo/Hoyte dialogue process; the deteriorating situation nationally with special emphasis on the absence of job opportunities for youth; and the impending increases in the electricity rates by the Guyana Power and Light Inc.
