Health Ministry staffer gets India scholarship

Ministry of Health employee, Guyanan Basdeo, has been selected to attend a course in New Delhi, India, leading to the Master's Degree in Human Resource Planning and Development. He was awarded a scholarship offered to the Guyana Government under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC).

A release from the High Commission of India said that Basdeo will attend the Institute of Applied Manpower Research (IAMR) in New Delhi from February 1 until January 31, 2004.

The IAMR is an institution in the field of manpower planning and was set up by the Government of India as an autonomous organisation in 1962 to evolve an institutional framework capable of sustaining and steering a systematic manpower planning process in the country, the release informed.

It added that IAMR is not only a research, training and consultancy organisation, but it also undertakes educational activities through a network of distinguished academicians drawn from a variety of fields.
