In tribute to the late PNCR Leader Desmond Hoyte, the management of the Channel 9 television station has amended its logo from NBTV to Hoyte/Blackman TV (HBTV).

A press release from Channel 9 said the name change represents “a living tribute to the late Mr. Hugh Desmond Hoyte... [and has been made] ...in honour of his memory. We know that he will live on in the minds and hearts of all Guyanese.”

The station’s owner Noel Blackman was a Minister of Health under the PNC.

In an invited comment yesterday, a management official told Stabroek News the name change will not result in an altering of the programme content. “As with any progressive television station, Channel 9 will always endeavour to enhance the quality of its production but programming will continue as per normal,” the official stated.
