ST GEORGE’S, Grenada (CMC) - Defending champions St Lucia raced to their third consecutive win in the West Indies Women’s Cricket tournament on Saturday afternoon when they easily defeated Grenada.

An attacking knock of 90 by Nadine George carried the St Lucians to a 75-run victory, while former champions Trinidad and Tobago and St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) also registered wins in the fourth round schedule of the rain-hit tournament.

At the River Sallee Ground, the left-handed George stroked 14 fours and three sixes, and with support from her captain Verena Felicien (35) pushed St Lucia to 201 all out off 35 overs after they were sent in to bat.

Grenada replied with 126 all out off 35 overs under pressure from St Lucia medium pacers Maria David (2-9) and Doris Francis (2-16) and off-spinner Felicien (2-19).

St Lucia had beaten North America and Jamaica in earlier games. Trinidad and Tobago defeated North America by 114 runs at Victoria Park.

Electing to bat, T&T piled up 233 for four off 43 overs with Shane De Silva hitting an unbeaten 69, Nellie Williams 59, and Erica George 48.

The North Americans could only manage 119 for six off 43 overs in reply, with Shirley-Ann Bonaparte top-scoring with 24 not out.

SVG defeated Guyana by 40 runs at La Sagesse. Sent in to bat, SVG gathered 156 for six off 50 overs, paced by Juliana Nero (33) and Daphne Miller (31), and then restricted the Guyanese to 116 for nine off 40 overs. Joann Vansertima was injured and unable to bat.

Sabrina Munroe (22), Abina Parker (19) were Guyana’s top batters, against SVG medium pacers Clea Hoyte (2-25) and Jennifer Charles (2-31).
