Universal Airlines breaks new ground
… launches inaugural flights Paramaribo/Fort Lauderdale

UNIVERSAL Airlines, which is on record as being the first airline to operate a Boeing 747-267B aircraft in Guyana, will launch its weekly flights to Paramaribo, Suriname, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, today.

A B767-300 ER aircraft is expected to depart Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, on the inaugural flight to Paramaribo at 07:00 hrs, with officials of Universal Airlines and local media personnel among the passengers aboard.

A welcome reception will be held at the Johan Adolph Pengel Airport, Paramaribo, upon the aircraft’s arrival Upon its return to Guyana later this morning, the aircraft make its initial flight to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Flights to both Paramaribo and Fort Lauderdale will be done every Friday, and the airline plans to increase the number of flights in the near future, once the routes are viable.

Universal Airlines, which began operating in Guyana in December 2001 plans, to offer a flight service on Saturdays from Guyana to St. Kitts and New York, officials disclosed

The B767-300ER, leased from Air Atlanta Icelandic of Iceland on May 10, allows for the airline to have flexibility in the usage for its planned expansion, the airline had said earlier this year.
