THE driver and two guards of a Securicor, a private security firm, who were allegedly robbed at gunpoint of a substantial quantity of cash, a shotgun and two revolvers by seven armed men, at Green Field Junction in the vicinity of Mahaica new road while proceeding to the City, are last night still in police custody assisting with the investigations.

The men reported that while on their way to Georgetown two bogus policemen stopped the vehicle after which seven armed men armed with long guns emerged from among the bushes, stuck them up and ordered the driver to proceed to a lonely spot.

The men then tied up the driver and occupants, robbed them of the cash, firearms and ammunition and escaped.

According to a police report, the driver and occupants claimed that after they managed to untie themselves, they alerted a passing police vehicle.
