Nine Guyanese shooters on West Indies team

NINE Guyanese secured places on the 22-member West Indies team that will compete in the Palma World Long Range Rifle Championships billed for Bisley, England in July.

The team was named based on performances in the Individual shoot and a practice session on Friday.

Guyanese Neville Denny was named captain of the team that has one woman, Valrie Newman of Jamaica, among six shooters from Trinidad & Tobago and seven from Jamaica.

The team list reads: Guyana - Neville Denny, Mahendra Persaud, Ransford Goodluck, Lennox Braithwaite, Derick Naraine, Claude Duguid, Dane Blair, Richard Fields and Ryan Sampson; Trinidad & Tobago - Leslie Chung, Marc Homer, Norris Gomez, John Fong-Yew, Michael Perez and Carl Awong; Jamaica - Keith Hammond, Col John Nelson, Canute Coley, Dennis Lee, Jose Nunez and Valrie Newman.
