THE Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) of the United States is continuing its search to locate Saudi Arabian national Adnan G. El Shukrijumah to question him in connection with possible threats against the United States.

According to the agency, the 27-year-old El Shukrijumah uses a number of aliases, including Adnan G. El Shukri Jumah, Abu Arif, Ja'far Al-Tayer, Jaffar Al-Tayyar, Jafar Tayar and Jaafar Al-Tayyar, and is suspected of carrying a Guyana passport, among passports from other countries.

The FBI said too that the suspect, who is about 5-foot-4 and 132 pounds, though he may be heavier, has black hair, black eyes and a Mediterranean complexion, and may be wearing a beard, is possibly involved with al-Qaeda terrorist activities and, if this is the case, he may pose a serious threat to U.S. citizens and interests worldwide.

FBI Director, Robert S. Mueller III in a March 20 address on "Operation Liberty Shield", regarding the FBI's extraordinary measures to protect the American people in the midst of the conflict in Iraq had said, "We are running down every lead, responding to every threat, coordinating with every partner, and doing our utmost to keep terrorists from striking back."

The Guyana Police, following the alert which has been placed on the FBI website, has begun checking its documentation to determine whether Adnan G. El Shukrijumah, whose father is said to be Guyanese-born, had been officially issued with a Guyana passport, a Police source told the Chronicle.
