THE Women's Progressive Organisation (WPO) yesterday expressed its horror at the brutal murder of Koshmantie Singh, also known as Shanta, in the robbery attack on her husband's store in Albouystown, Georgetown, Monday night.

"It is clear she was executed in a very sadistic manner, as if her executioners took great joy in carving her out with bullets", the women's arm of the People's Progressive Party (PPP) said in a press statement.

Singh was shot dead when bandits broke into the store and demanded money and jewellery from her.

The WPO said that as a mother her first instinct was to protect her child and in so doing she became a victim.

"Her assailants behaved as they always do - enter people's homes as they want, terrorise and kill and demand their savings as if they had worked for it", the statement said.

"These criminals whose only purpose is to spy, plot and destroy will have to reconise the frailty of human life and that nothing lasts forever", it added.

The WPO expressed its condolences to the husband Basdeo Narine and all the sorrowing relatives.
