Guyana to protest Suriname map note

THE Foreign Ministry here is to respond today on a note circulated to diplomatic missions in Suriname advising that published Suriname maps should include the New River Triangle in Guyana's south east as part of that country's territory.

Foreign Minister, Dr. Rudy Insanally yesterday said it had been confirmed that the Suriname Government had circulated the note.

"We cannot accept that. The New River Triangle is Guyana's territory and we will be responding to that note", he told the Chronicle.

He said the ministry is to issue a press release on the matter today.
