GUYANA’S first world champion declared he would knock out Antonio Margarito for the World Boxing Organisation welterweight belt tonight in Las Vegas, USA.

Lewis is challenging Margarito for the WBO title in the main

supporting bout to the ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley/Raul Marquez fight.

The four boxers appeared at a press conference for their fights at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.

Former World Boxing Association welter king ‘Sixhead’ Lewis promised: "I'm going to be the champion tonight."

Champion Antonio Margarito responded: "Lewis will be the champion only in his dreams."

Lewis later told Fightnews: "What does he know? I'm going to knock him out."

Speaking before Mosley, Marquez said, "I hope there's no holding, no running ... let's fight ...You don't have to worry about who is going to fight Oscar next. I'm going to win."

When his turn came, ‘Sugar’ Shane said he's in great shape, feels strong and promised Marquez a world of hurt.

"You'll get a fight," promised Mosley, "I can punch with the best of them."

Members of the Mosley camp did not speak of future fights during the press conference, but Fightnews later asked Shane if reports were true that he was going reject the offer to fight de la Hoya.

"I didn't say that," said Shane, adding that he was planning to get with promoters Bob Arum and Barry Frank "to get the figures right".

Shane also said he's motivated for tonight’s fight against Marquez "to show the world I'm still Sugar Shane."

On the topic of nemesis Vernon Forrest, Shane said he was surprised Forrest lost to Ricardo Mayorga. "He gambled and got caught." However, Mosley has no plans to head back down to 147. "I don't think I can make it and be strong." (Fightnews)
