PORT of Spain, Trinidad - All-rounder Candacy Adkins is the lone Guyanese chosen on the West Indies women's team to play seven One-day Internationals against Sri Lanka from March 8- 24.

The 18-year-old right-arm medium pacer and right-handed batter earned the nod of the regional selectors headed by coach Anne-Browne-John, technical adviser, Gus Logie and captain, Verena Felicien, following a weeklong training camp at the Sir Frank Worrell Development Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva, Trinidad.

The team will be led by St Lucian Felicien, who will have as her assistant, Trinidad and Tobago's Stephanie Power.

Schoolteacher Power paid glowing tribute on the selection of Adkins.

"She is a bright prospect for the future development of West Indies women's cricket. She excelled in the training camp and has good cricket sense," Power said.

Power told Chronicle Sports that the two other Guyanese players in the camp, Indomattie Goordial and Annabelle Lewis should not be too disappointed about their non-selection, as their time will come soon.

Sri Lanka will arrive in Kingstown, St Vincent on March 8, and will play their first One-Day on March 13 at the Arnos Vale Recreation Ground.
