Queen's College not only earned itself a place in the finals of the J.O.F. Haynes Annual Debating Competition, but it came up the winners.

The Ministry of Education in collaboration with Texaco West Indies Limited sponsored the debating competition this year.

The countrywide television series attracted a number of secondary schools with Queen's College and Aurora Secondary being the finalists. The moot that "Extra- judicial killings by members of the Guyana Police Force have resulted in loss of confidence by citizens and have impacted negatively on the image of the force" was opposed by Queen's College in the finals.
