Main Street readying for ‘Big Lime’

Preparations are already underway for the Main Big Lime and the Christmas season. According to a release the Ministry of Tourism, assisted by City Hall and several businesses have begun preparing Main Street, Georgetown by setting up decorations along the avenue and lighting several trees.

The companies that sponsored lit trees include the National Bank of Industry & Commerce, King’s Jewellery World, Universal Airlines, Banks DIH, Hand in Hand Insurance Co and Subway along with the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce. Courts and Palm Court have always traditionally lit trees during the season.

The Main Big Lime is scheduled for Sunday 29th December and begins at 10 a.m.

According to the Ministry, police security arrangements will be in place along with private security in the parking areas around Parade ground and the Water Street roundabout. The Ministry stated that this event is especially held at this time of year for visiting Guyanese who may have come home for the festive season.
