Grenade found in car, four men held

Police unearthed a concussion grenade and an unlicensed firearm in a motor car with four occupants on Saturday evening in the vicinity of Parliament Buildings.

The discovery was made after the police stopped and checked the vehicle with the men who were behaving in a suspicious manner. According to a press release from the Guyana Police Force Public Relations Department, a police patrol was in the vicinity of Avenue of the Republic when it observed the four occupants of the car.

The release stated that of the four men who are in police custody two are from Albouystown, one from Corentyne and the other from Linden. Moreover, one of the two men from Albouystown is presently before the Georgetown Magistrate's Court on an illegal possession of arms and ammunition charge.
