Yesterday the City Engineer, Cephas James, along with representatives from the Project Execution Unit of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and other officials visited the Stabroek Market and examined the rehabilitation works done under an IDB-funded project.

A release from the Mayor & City Council (M&CC) yesterday said the purpose was to give guidance and other suggestions to improve the integrity of the works, and secure the comfort and convenience of stall-holders.

The engineer, the release said, identified certain concerns of the council, in the areas of roofing, plumbing, electrical and general structural works carried out by the contractor.

The representatives of the involved agencies agreed that the concerns would be addressed in the period for which the contractor is liable for defects.
