The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce is to launch a campaign against bad manners.

A statement from the Government Information Agency (GINA) yesterday said that this disclosure was made by Tourism Minister Manzoor Nadir on the weekly programme `Answers’.

Nadir said the campaign will be conducted in collaboration with Donald Sinclair who has done extensive work in the field of tourism.

“Guyanese have always been known to be a friendly and hospitable people, so we want to maintain as well as increase on that trait among our people”, Nadir said.

The Ministry also recently received garbage bins from the Guyana Beverage Company - distributor of Busta soft drinks - and these are to be placed in the designated tourism zone between Le Meridien Pegasus Hotel and the Kitty seawall.

“This year we are also trying to encourage Guyanese to beautify their own surroundings and do a little painting here and there to make their houses and properties brighter”.
