An e-prankster yesterday created a copy of the front page of Stabroek News' online edition of October 24 and altered it to say that President Bharrat Jagdeo had been kidnapped. The person then circulated it to a number of e-mail addresses here and abroad.

The owner of Keishar's Brahmanand Nandalall was the person kidnapped on Thursday and this was the report which was altered.

The e-mail caused some confusion amongst overseas Guyanese as the false report spread.

Information Liaison to the President Robert Persaud in a statement yesterday said the Guyana government has solicited international assistance to track down the source of the e-mails.
