Minister in the Ministry of Local Government, Clinton Collymore heads the newly appointed statutory council on the prerogative of mercy.

The council was appointed by cabinet at its recent meeting, according to Cabinet Secretary, Dr Roger Luncheon, and will provide advice to the President on matters relating to the implementation of the death penalty.

It will also have as one of its members Attorney-General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Doodnauth Singh.

Others on the council include Dr Biro Harry, Raganan Singh and Cheryl Rodrigues.
